I am very lucky to have travelled to Cape Town numerous times throughout my life, due to my family’s love, bordering on obsession with the place. So much so that my uncle married a South African meaning we now have family there and any excuse to go back. It has become a home away from home and I will always treasure my time there.
My art and designs are largely inspired by the vibrancy of the city. The thing which captivates me most is the energy - not just from the people, but the colours, the sounds and the dramatic scenery.

The side of roads are swimming in street sellers selling their craft. Beaded animals, woven baskets, rugs, wooden furniture etc. I love to see how each year differs, building up my own steady collection of South African, hand made souvenirs - from the beaded animals I collected when I was young to the woven lampshades I bought this year.
The best fish I've ever eaten has been from South Africa.
And the best fruit.

The most joyful day of the year - New Years Day. Everyone floods down to the beach for the public holiday, playing games and swimming in the sea.
