Hydrangea ii Ebru Marbling

Hydrangea painted using the traditional Turkish technique called Ebru. 

Ebru painting is an Ancient Turkish marbling technique, essentially painting on water with inks which you then transfer onto paper by placing the paper on the surface of the water. The technique dates back to the Ottoman empire at the beginning of the 16th century and has been passed down through the generations. Many practise the art form for years before mastering the technique.

The painting is mounted and framed in a hand painted pale green frame measuring at 44 x 54cm
